Do You Need An SSN For Car Insurance In Texas?
Texas law requires every driver to carry liability insurance, but it does not require a Social Security number to buy it. Insurers use an SSN mostly as a convenience for identity checks and credit-based pricing, and neither is mandatory.
What you can use instead
- An Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).
- A passport or consular ID such as the Matricula Consular.
- A driver's licence from your home country, together with proof of your Texas address.
Some carriers will ask for an SSN anyway. We only place policies with companies that do not, so the quote you see is the price you pay.
Will it cost more?
Not with us. Plans without a credit check are priced on your car, your driving record and your ZIP code. Rapido does not slow down for paperwork, and neither should you.
